The city of El Reno in Oklahoma’s Canadian County was established in 1889 during the land rush, however where it sits today has not always been where the city was situated.
Originally, the city was located along the banks of the North Canadian river (approximately five miles north of where it is presently located). However, after the city was flooded for the second time – and because its mail was regularly mistakenly being sent westward to Reno, Nevada – the city was moved to a safer location and had its name changed to El Reno.
Much like other cities within the state of Oklahoma, El Reno is no stranger to a number of incredible weather and climate-related incidents. Many of the 16,000 or so residents still remember the ice storm of January 2005 which left 2 inches of ice encrusted over their homes, vehicles, and other outdoor areas.
In 2006, a rare anti-cyclonic tornado struck the El Reno municipal airport, and on May 31 2013, the widest tornado ever passed through the city. The tornado was estimated to have a width of 2.6 miles and had an astonishing wind speed of over 295 miles per hour – the second highest speed on record.
Rolling with the Punches
The residents of El Reno have become accustomed to negotiating sudden changes and altering their plans to accommodate the uncontrollable and unavoidable. This too often occurs in our personal lives. The attorneys here at Rick Dane Moore & Associates P.L.L.C. have guided numerous El Reno clients through a litigation process, resulting in a fast and fair settlement or lawsuit.
Is Litigation the Same as a Lawsuit?
One common misconception that exists is that a “litigation” is the same as a “lawsuit”. Litigation is a term used to describe a number of activities which occur before, throughout, and after a lawsuit.
The point of litigation is to enforce the legal rights of a client so that they remain lawfully protected throughout the entire process. Some areas of litigation include:
- Litigation prior to a lawsuit (such as independent investigations)
- Pre-suit negotiations
- Alternative dispute resolution
- Discovery and motion practice-areas
- Trial litigation
- Post-trial litigation
Our knowledgeable attorneys at the law office of Rick Dane Moore & Associates have successfully educated, guided, and secured the best possible outcomes in the cases of our clients over the many years we have worked with the good people of El Reno and surrounding areas.
