Philly holds off Atlanta to advance to CS…all 3 100-win teams eliminated

The Philadelphia Phillies have advanced to the National League Championship Series for the second straight year, holding off the Atlanta Braves, who won the most games in the regular season (104). Joining Atlanta are the Los Angeles Dodgers (100 wins) and Baltimore Orioles (101 wins), who both reached the 100-win mark in their respective leagues, in an early exit from fall baseball.

Philadelphia hit three home runs to defeat Atlanta 3-1 in Game 4 of the best-of-three 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) National League Division Series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., on Wednesday. Atlanta, which was pounded by Philadelphia for six home runs in a 2-10 rout the day before, ended its fall baseball campaign prematurely with the loss, falling to 1-3 overall.안전놀이터

Game 3 was dominated by two home runs from Philadelphia’s No. 7 hitter, Nick Castellanos. Castellanos pulled a slider from Atlanta starter Spencer Strider for a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1, and he followed it up with a fastball to left field in the bottom of the sixth to make it 3-1. Castellanos had homered twice in the previous game, a 10-2 blowout.

Advancing to the Championship Series for the second straight year, the Phillies will host the Arizona Diamondbacks at home on April 17 for Game 1 of the World Series. Coming off a wild-card victory, Arizona swept the Dodgers in three games in the Division Series.

This fall’s baseball upsets saw all three 100-win teams in both major leagues eliminated. In the American League, Baltimore, the “first place” team in the East, met the Texas Rangers in the Division Series and lost in three games. Texas swept Tampa Bay in the wild-card game and then swept Baltimore in three games to reach the American League Championship Series for the first time in 12 years.
